Apparition (2014) uses darkness as a metaphor for the struggles and suppression of women. It focuses particularly on witches, exploring the relationship between womens role in society and the way power influences though and understanding. It also delves into the idea that powerful strong women have been depicted as dark and menacing. Like Francisco de Goya and Cindy Sherman, I have integrated icons representing stereotypes of womens roles at the time.
